Connetics employs approximately 175 people, 110 of them in our Palo Alto, California office. Included in this number are 13 employees in our Australian based company, Soltec. Product line FDA-approved products include Luxíq™ and OLUX™. Luxíq (betamethasone valerate) Foam, 0.12%, is a mid-potency steroid approved for the relief of the inflammatory and puritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive scalp dermatoses. Luxíq was approved in February 1999 and we launched it commercially in April 1999. OLUX (clobetasol propionate) Foam, 0.05%, is a super high-potency steroid approved for the short-term topical treatment of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of moderate to severe corticosteroid-responsive scalp dermatoses. The product was approved in May 2000, and we launched it in November 2000. Lead development products Connetics is developing recombinant human relaxin for several diseases. Relaxin, which is a naturally occurring human hormone, is known to have angiogenic, vasodilatory and antifibrotic properties. Its unique and potent biological profile presents the potential for relaxin to be a treatment for a range of fibrotic and vasoconstrictive diseases. In addition to relaxin, Connetics is developing several dermatology products formulated in novel and proprietary delivery vehicles. The leading products under development include two acne treatments, a topical fungal medication and a minoxidil-based topical foam for the treatment of hair loss. Historical profile Connetics was founded in 1993 as a spinoff of development-stage products from Genentech. Early on, Connetics’ focus was on developing products for connective tissue diseases. At that time, our corporate name was Connective Therapeutics, Inc., but in 1997, with the establishment of a sales and marketing organization, we changed the name to Connetics Corporation. The company went public in February 1996. | ||
