Since its founding in 1976, Gene Kunit & Associates has worked creatively and innovatively to serve the aesthetic and functional needs of all clients. Based in northern California, the firm is led by a team of two highly accomplished landscape architects: Gene Kunit, graduate of Cornell University, MLA University of Michigan, and Laurie Nielsen, UC Berkeley graduate of Landscape Architecture. In all projects, the firm's work centers on designing and building beautiful, functional, and compassionate landscapes. The guiding principle for this sustained effort has been to instill in every project a spirit, passion, and environmental sensitivity that has lasting value for our clients, the community, and the natural environment we all share. By undertaking both design and build, our firm is allowed total project management, guaranteeing outstanding results. Completed projects include both commercial and residential developments, ranging from 12-acre estates, industrial buildings, banks, restaurants and hospitals, to small, personal residential gardens Through active participation in the surrounding community, Gene Kunit & Associates has also developed a voice that is helping to shape the natural landscape of California. Kunit has guest lectured at the University of California at Berkeley, College of Environmental Design, on subjects ranging from the design process to ecologically based environmental planning. Through landscape preservation studies and reports written in the 1970s for the state park system, Kunit has also contributed to the preservation of a number of natural areas throughout the state of California. As a nationally recognized landscape architecture firm, we work hard to provide our clients with beautiful works of art. The landscape is our canvas in which we employ all the artistic, building, and social skills we possess.
