| A brief word about IEC@DVC:
The International Education Center at DVC (IEC@DVC) is located in a state-of-the-art teaching facility designed specifically for international students. All students enjoy the privileges of being DVC students and use the campus's extensive resources. The International Education Center at DVC has a well-designed program to help students develop academic English skills that will allow them to succeed in the U.S.. The courses, all of which are communicative and interactive, address the needs of students who are interested in pursuing studies at an American university or college, learning basic English communication skills, and enjoying life in one of the world's most cosmopolitan and beautiful cities. Members of our faculty are experienced and dedicated ESL instructors specifically trained in ESL. Instructors hold a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), linguistics or a related field. Most of the faculty speak at least one other language and have lived abroad. Instructors have extensive office hours and actively participate in activities with their students off campus. INTENSIVE ESL/EAP PROGRAM We offer a 6-level program. Each level is 8 weeks in duration. Classes meet 23 hours a week with a maximium of 15 students per class. There are three 16 weeks long semesters held in spring, summer and fall. Each semester has four starting dates. Courses include Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Conditional acceptance into DVC and other regional universities is possible, including the Cal State system. HOUSING AVAILABILITY There are a number of housing possibilities available to students who attend our program. We offer home stays and assist students in finding apartments and other arrangements as needed. | ||
